Les liens entre la Hongrie et la France sont anciens. Ainsi, des officiers hongrois ont migré en France sous Louis XIV et ont créé ici les premiers régiments de hussards. En sens inverse, au XVIIIème siècle, des Alsaciens et des Lorrains sont partis vers l’Est avec leurs familles et ont contribué à repeupler la plaine du Banat, au nord-ouest de l’actuelle Hongrie.
